All right, girls, it's your turn!

Super Simran

Abraham Lincoln By: Tanya Lee Stone One book in the series of the Dk Biographies

Wondering how this little boy who was once a farmer became a president. Well this book has all the ansewers. It does not list this in the book but a little girl asked Abraham Lincoln to grow his famous beard. It also shows a picture of the rocking chair Abraham Lincoln was sitting at the Fords theatre when he got shot. After he got shot he was put on a bed for medical treatment whitch he died in. It shows a picture of that bed to. After reading this book summary I hope you want to read this book. Well go and buy it right now because this is a book I like so I know you will like it too. :^)

Times Squared By: Julia DeVillers

This book is about 2 twins who go to New York City. One goes to see a off Broadway show and the other went to attend a math competition. Most people in one twins group are from the drama club but that group is going to see banks and stuff like that. The other twins group are mostly mathaletes but they go to places like the toystore and the candy shop. Will this trip in New York mess up? I really enjoyed this book because it was about twins. I think you should read it! :^)

Junie B., First Grader: Cheater Pants By: Barbara Park

Junie B Jones is copying of peoples homework and everything but she thinks it's not a big deal but will she get out of control. Will she never stop copying? I loved this book and I could not put it down till the end! Ithink you should read it! :^)

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days By: Jeff Kiney

It's summer vacation and Greg is in his house playing video games. His mom thinks he should go outside and "play". Greg does sometimes and in this book Greg gets a dog. I really liked this book because of it's comedy. I think you should read it too! :^)

Emma

Dork Diaries #2- Rachel Renee Russell

I really like Dork Diaries. It's a GREAT BOOK! I like it because it's like Diary of a wimpy kid and I like that. It's about a girl named Nikki Maxwell who goes to a new school. There is a mean girl named Makenzie; the most popular girl in the school. She has to be at three places at once because she promised everyone she would be there. She meets two friends,Chole and Zoe.Find out what happens next.

Wayside school- Louis Sachar

Wayside School is a hilarious book of stories. Mrs. Gorf turns everyone into apples in one of the stories. I like this book because there is lots of stories in one book.

Ruta

Charlotte's Web, by E.B. White is a great book. Wilbur, a pig raised from birth by a girl named Fern, is sold to a farm. When a goose informs him that once Christmas time comes around, he'll be killed, Wilbur turns to a gray spider named Charlotte for help. What she does is amazing and will change your opinion about friends forever.

All right! Thank you, girls! I'm really glad you wrote about Abraham Lincoln and Charlotte's Web. Honest Abe was an incredible person and Charlotte's Web is an incredible book.

And good way to use all 4 things, boys and girls--title, author, brief plot summary, and reasons you liked or didn't like the books!

Time Out for The Black Book of Buried Secrets

The NCAA tournament (aka March Madness) officially starts today! Woo-hoooo!! This year's tourney promises to be another memorable event. But every game has a few scheduled time outs, so I'm going to take one and tell you about a truly terrific book. It's The Black Book of Buried Secrets, the companion book to the absolutely fan-tastic 39 Clues series. I enjoyed this book a lot! There's excitement, adventure and lots of information about the different branches of the Cahill family. Great reading for fans of the series or even those who haven't---who haven't---oh, no, something's interfering with my posting. This is exactly what happened when I wrote about Into the Gauntlet, the last book in the series----

TOP SECRET MESSAGE TO TOMAS HQ
This is Agent Flexing Bear, reporting form the Tomas stronghold in Charlotte, NC. (Everyone thinks it's only a library, HAHAHAHAHA!) I have just read The Black Book of Buried Secrets and, wow, is it good!! Not only is there a whole ton of info about all the Cahill branches and their spy techniques (useful to know since we're ALL in such great danger from the Vesper family), there are a lot of really exciting stories. Besides, you get to find out all sorts of cool stuff--what happened to Dan and Amy after they got back to the States, Isabel Kabra's trial, stories about the founders of the Cahill branches, biographies of famous Cahill agents, plus a truly great introduction by the one and only Rick Riordan. I couldn't stop reading this book, even when when doing my weight-lifting exercises.

BTW, the newest 39 Clues book comes out on April 5. It's called Vespers Rising and the library has ordered lots of copies so the whole world can see how the brave Tomas agents will keep the world safe!! OK, I guess the other branches will do a little bit too. After all, we'll have to work together against the greatest danger the world will ever know. I will notify agents everywhere when we get copies. I hope a lot of agents go to their libraries, especially the Myers Park "library", and check it out! (Oops, did I just give away the secret location of this Tomas stronghold?)

More Free Throws From the Boys at MRSA...

Hey everyone, it's your friendly neighborhood Iron Guy Carl with more reviews for the March Madness Free Throw Contest. We have more reviews from the third grade classes of Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy, so we'll get right to them, but first, we interrupt this blog post for an important announcement:

HEY KIDS,
Are some of your reviews not showing up on this blog??
Then you need FOLLOWTHESE4!

That's right! With just one dose of FOLLOWTHESE4, your reviews are sure to show up here! OK, all silliness aside, I've had to cut some reviews because they were either waaayyy too short (only 2 sentences) or because they didn't follow the 4 guidelines I set down at the beginning of the contest. We basically need 4 things--the title of the book, the author, a brief summary of the plot, and why you liked the book. Some of the submissions I've got are only plot summaries. I want you to tell us WHY you liked the book! Most of you have done that and done it very well but some haven't and I just can't publish those. I'll also admit that I've let some of you slide, even with today's post, but I can't do that anymore. (MAN,I'm starting to sound like a grownup!!) I want to be sure that we get the best you can give us, so follow those 4 guidelines and your reviews will be sure to show up here. (BTW, you can put the title and author separately from the review but you don't have to. Look back over the reviews and you can see how kids have done them separately or worked them into the reviews)

All right let's hear from the boys! (We'll hear from the girls in the next post)

X.Welinder

I am in 3rd grade and for my reading genre project I just read DK Biography: Thomas Jefferson. I really like and recommend this book because as well as a regular history book with facts and dates, it is also a photographic story of Jefferson's life. It includes pictures, paintings, maps, quotes, and really interesting bits of information that helps you get an idea of what his life must have really been like. DK Publishing also writes those 'History of US' books which is very similar in style to this book on Thomas Jefferson. You should check it out, I thought it was great!

Thanks, guys!! These books look good and I'm especially glad to see a nonfiction review here because I firmly believe that nonfiction is not boring--and you've just shown us why!

Girls,I'l lpost your reviews tomorrow and then I'll post the current standings.
