Lord Vader Steps Up to Defend the Boys!

Hello, everyone, it's Carl once again. We have a new review from our old friend Lord Vader (otherwise known as Mikie). In fact, he sent us two reviews this time! I don't know if he wrote to defend the blog from the sneaky and underhanded hostile takeover attempt from the girls at Ms. Smith's fourth-grade class at Metrolina Regional Scholar's Academy, but, since he is a guy, I will add it to those who have so nobly aided our cause. Let's hear what Lord Vader has to say:

I just finished "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" by J. K. Rowling. It had been a while since I had seen the movie so I forgot a lot about the story. Every time the Dementors would start making Harry hear his mom I didn't want to read anymore. But I finally finished it and I'm glad I did. I really liked how Harry and Hermione got a "do over" with Serious and Buckbeak. I wish you could do that in real life. I also liked Hogsmeade. My mom told me there is a town with little shops kind of like in the book up by where I was born. It's called Salem, Massachusetts. I would recommend this book to others, but since it is a little more darker than the beginning ones I would tell readers to make sure they read it in the daytime. Especially about the kiss the dementors give. The book is really descriptive.

I also read "Michael Phelps" by Jeffrey Zuehlke. It's about Michael's awesome career and how he got started in it. I think he is great and loved reading about him. I can't wait to read his other one that talks about his training and diet.

Mikie (a.k.a. Lord Vader)

Another good one, Lord Vader! Or, I should say, another good two!! No girl would dare take over our blog with Lord Vader on our team. In fact, here's a warning to anyone would mess with the great Sith lord:

There you go! You have been warned!

Lord Vader Was Quick Too!

Wow! Talk about timing! Less than two hours after that last post, our gold medal winner Mikie (aka Lord Vader) came and picked up his prize! Here he is, showing off his ultra-hip and cool Joust Read T-shirt. He must have used The Force to sense that cyber kid had claimed his prizes. Good work, you two. Keep writing! Your reviews are always interesting and make me want to read the books you talk about.

Another Star Wars Review from Lord Vader and Some Summer Goofiness!

Hey, one and all, Lord Vader has given us another good review of a Star Wars book:

I just finished "Star Wars Last of the Jedi: Master of Deception" by Jude Watson. It picks up the story shortly after Anakin becomes Darth Vader and when Leia is just a small child. It takes place on Alderaan when Leia's presence is felt in the force because of her strength in it. The dark side doesn't know who is causing a ripple in the force but they want to find the being and deal with it. I thought this book was great and I think other readers that like the Star Wars movies will like this book as well. I can't wait to see the Clone Wars movie on August 15th.

Mikie a.k.a Lord Vader

I can't either, Lord Vakie, I mean, Mider, I mean Mikie. BTW, all you sith and jedi out there, keep your eyes on this blog for some interesting developments!

Now here's some totally goofy summer fun. This is a clip from an old movie. I put it in here because it features the great Spike Jones. I'm a bigggg fan of his. He was a bandleader wayyy back in the day and was famous for taking hit songs of the times and doing crazy things to them. He'd put car horns, hiccups, pistol shots, gargling, and other wierd noises into the songs and make fit in time with the music! In this scene, some lady is singing for a party but doesn't know that Spike Jones is the bandleader. Someone tires to warn her, but too late!!! Go look for some of his music--it may be hard to find now, but go look because it's funny, funny, funny!!!!

Did you know that he even had a TV show??? What must that have been like???

The Return of Lord Vader

Hey, one and all, it's Carl. Hope you had a good weekend. Did anyone do anything special for Veteran's Day? We have a new comment from our old friend Lord Vader:

This is Mikie, a.k.a. Lord Vader. My power had been weakened over the past few months. But now I have returned. I just finished Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Sea of Monsters. It is a great sequel to the Lightning Thief. There is a fight with a cyclops. Also a ghost crew on a Confederate ship. Posiaden (I know I spelled that wrong) adds his help again as well as a not so welcome appearance by Percy's biggest enemy. There is a great surprise ending and I can't wait to read the third book.

Good to have you back, Lord Vader. I heard you had to spend some time in the regeneration chamber. He's absolutely right about The Sea of Monsters. It's one of the best things I've read in a loooooong time! So go out and get it, guys!

With Apologies to Lord Vader

Hey everyone, it's Carl. Hope you've all settled into your school routines. I imagine that your teachers have given you lists of books to read. Do you like any of them? Are any of them good? Feel free to write in and tell us about them, as well as any books you read just because you want to.
I've got a message for Mikie, aka Lord Vader. You sent me a comment about The Lightning Thief, the first of the great Percy Jackson books, a while back but I accidentally erased it! I don't know what happened, but it disappeared and I can't get it back.

Aaauughhhh..no! Don't use the Force...it was an accident...choke...gasp...all right, I'm sorry!Would you please send me another comment about The Lightning Thief? I'll do my best to post it without erasing it! In the meantime, if you all want to read my review of that book, click here.

Don't forget--on October 1, I'll issue a challenge of my own to all you readers! Happy reading until then! (gasp...wheeze...cough)

Return of Lord Vader

Hey guys, look who's back:

Hey it's me Mikie a.k.a Lord Vader checking in again. I just read Pokemon The Movie 3: Spell of the Unown - movie adaptation by Tracey West. It is very cool. I love Entei, he is a fire type Pokemon. He uses cool attacks like fire blast. Ash who is a Pokemon trainer has to save his mom. Don't look at the pictures in the middle of the book though or it will give the ending away before you get to read it all.

I know Darth Bill will be happy to see Lord Vader back again. I'm sure he'd like to say something, but lately he's been as busy as Han Solo flying through an asteroid field. So have I. We'll try to get some more posts up this week. I want to talk about the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series when we do. In the meantime, if you want to see my review of The Lightning Thief, the first book in the series, click here.
